What Are Replacement Sealed Units?
Glass Replacements for a Warmer, Brighter Home
If your windows look foggy, have visible condensation between the panes, or feel cold to the touch, your sealed units have likely failed. A "blown" unit occurs when the airtight seal around the glass breaks, allowing moisture to seep in and ruin your view. Many homeowners believe they need to replace the entire window frame when this happens, but at Medway Windows & Doors, we can simply replace the glass. This process is significantly more cost-effective, creates less mess, and allows you to keep your existing frames while enjoying the benefits of brand-new glazing.
We offer a wide range of domestic glass solutions tailored to your home’s specific needs from self-cleaning glass for hard-to-reach conservatory roofs to energy-efficient "Low-E" glass that reflects heat back into your living space. Our expert team will measure your existing frames to the millimetre, ensuring your new sealed units provide a perfect fit and a major boost to your home’s insulation and security.

Sealed Unit Replacement Benefits
Why Choose Replacement Sealed Units?
Replacing your glass is an opportunity to improve the comfort, safety, and energy performance of your home using the latest glazing innovations at a fraction of the cost.
Get A QuoteExceptional Energy Efficiency
Did you know that up to 25% of a home’s heat can escape through inefficient windows? By replacing your old glass with energy-saving units, you can reduce this heat loss significantly. Our Low-Emissivity (Low-E) glass features a thin coating that reflects heat back into the room rather than letting it escape outside, helping to reduce heating bills by up to 20% & make your home cheaper to run.

Self-Cleaning Technology
Hard-to-reach glazing (such as conservatories or high-up dormers) are perfect candidates for our self-cleaning sealed units. Their dual-action coating reacts with UV rays to break down organic dirt and cause rainwater to "sheet" off the glass, washing away dirt without leaving streaks, making them a popular low-maintenance option.
Privacy and Decorative Style
Whether you need privacy in a bathroom or want to add a traditional touch to a front door, we offer a vast range of decorative glass. We can match any existing pattern or create a new look to meet your needs, as well as supplying leaded and Georgian bar designs to ensure your new units perfectly match the character of your property.

FAQ's
Common Sealed Unit Replcaement Questions.
Why do my double-glazed windows look misted or foggy?
This is a sign that the “sealed unit” has failed. Over time, the seal between the two panes of glass can perish, allowing moist air to enter the gap. When the temperature changes, this moisture condenses, creating the foggy look. We can fix this easily by replacing just the glass unit without needing to install a whole new window frame.
Is it cheaper to replace the glass or the whole window?
It is significantly cheaper to replace just the glass. By keeping your existing frames, you save on the cost of the uPVC or aluminium materials and the labour involved in a full structural removal. It’s the most cost-effective way to restore your windows to “as-new” performance.
Can I upgrade to energy-saving glass in my old frames?
In almost all cases, yes. As long as your frames are in good condition, we can install the latest “Low-E” units. This allows you to benefit from 21st-century insulation technology even if your window frames are several years old.
How long does it take to replace a glass unit?
Once we have manufactured your bespoke units to size, the actual installation is very quick. A single unit can often be replaced in under 30 minutes, and a whole house of glass can typically be completed in a single day with minimal disruption.
Will my new glass units come with a guarantee?
Yes. All our sealed units come with a comprehensive guarantee against the seal failing again. Because we use high-quality glass and professional-grade sealants, you can have total peace of mind that your new view will stay clear for years to come.
Can you match replacement units with my current windows?
Absolutely. We are experts at matching existing designs, whether they are traditional leaded diamonds, squares, or custom patterns. We can also include Georgian bars inside the glass to ensure your new units look identical to your existing ones.
